Huh.

I guess living in a mansion with one probability manipulator in residence and one who comes back to visit every so often must be good for something, even unintentionally.

Well, unless Jennie or Wanda rigged that contest at the travel agency. Seeing as I didn't tell them about it, I'm guessing that'd be a bit too much of a conspiracy theory, and pretty well strain credulity.

So, more to the point. I appear to have won a free trip for two to Las Vegas, and on top of that, anyone else who feels like going gets free hotel and discounted airfare by booking through this new "Salem Travel" place out in town.

Guess that free lemonade was really worth it. :)

So the free trips come only whilst I am floundering to finish the term in something approximating a timely fashion. Ah, yes, I see how the situation lies all too clear.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, you are so banned from traveling for like the next... ever.

[identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes. I am a sneak, a thief and a scoundrel. Right now I have the misfortune of being a sneak, a thief and a scoundrel with something in the area of two culmulative months' worth of absences, and although it is unlikely I shall complete all necessary work strictly on time I should like to keep the granted extension somewhere under a month.

I do not know this travelling of which is being spake. Nor, for that matter, anything resembling a life.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you seriously just use the word "spake"?

[identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not? It was a perfectly acceptable word six hundred years ago. I think the time is ripe for revival.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Between you and your sister, I swear, there is something seriously wrong with Australia.

[identity profile] x-emplate.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Monet and I are unique and beautiful flowers. Our specialness transcends nationality. It is birthright.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Thank heaven for that. The entire population of a continent behaving like the pair of you is a slightly disturbing thought.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's an entire continent that is populated entirely by criminals and poisonous things. And some poisonous criminals.

[identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Not the entire continent, thankyouverymuch. There were people here before the convicts and Adelaide was a free settlement. (Actually, that explains a lot about why that place is a hole) and so was Melbourne.

[identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oy! I resent that. It's just that you don't understand us.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
No. I really really don't.

[identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
That? Is because we're special. :) Special like... special things with sprinkles on top.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
So the hole in the ozone layer DOES have detrimental effects.

[identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. Our beer is better, our wine cheaper and more things have sprinkles on. And! Your beaches are too cold to swim at. :)

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Not my beaches hon. I grew up in the desert. With the fake beaches.

And anyway, I'm Greek. Greece > Australia.

[identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
O rly? Then why is Melbourne the third largest Greek city in the world?

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Outside of what? Actual Greece?

Greece still wins. You can't deny this. Best beaches, best food, and we invented western civilization.

[identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
No, the third largest including the ones in Greece.

And I've be there. They're good, but as beaches go? I've been to better. I'll take you to Cape Trib or Cable Beach one of these days.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't look at me. The workload's about the same here, and if I were to rig anything for anywhere it would definitely not be for Las Vegas. Sure it's all shiny and pretty on the surface, but the place is and always will be a hole.

[identity profile] x-wasp.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
When's the trip? Is it a certain time or you get to pick and can I go too?

[identity profile] x-cannonball.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
This coming weekend, looks like.

And anyone who wants to come is welcome.

[identity profile] x-pyromania.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
How much of a discount are we talking about here?

[identity profile] x-cannonball.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, free hotel pretty much knocks a lot of cost off. Discount airfare looks like about half off.

I want to go to Vegas!

[identity profile] x-mondo.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
So I called my father and we discussed and he now owns my immortal soul (I'm pretty sure he owned it anyway but now he really for-sure no-takebacks does) and I owe him grandkids - one of each kind - but he's going to pay for me to go to Vegas!

WOO! I can't wait! For Vegas, anyway.

Re: I want to go to Vegas!

[identity profile] x-cannonball.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think your dad came out better on the agreement, since we get free hotel and reduced airfare. But I'm glad you're excited about it.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Sooo... was it you, or should I go call Jay to blame him for the ticket sitting on my desk? Because seriously? I need to know which Guthrie is responsible so I can throw socks at them.

I promise not to throw socks during class.

[identity profile] x-cannonball.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering I'm the only Guthrie in the mansion, pretty safe to say it's my fault.

You seemed like you could use a bit of a vacation, and I couldn't think of anyone else I'd give the free ticket to.
